Hiking route

A looped excursion in the Sasso Simone e Simoncello Regional Nature Park offers an alternation of wooded stretches with sweeping views of Montefeltro. Set off from the car park at Passo della Cantoniera, cross the adventure park called Carpegna Park then enter the forest. After around 3 kilometres of completely shaded sloping ground, you reach the Sella dei Sassi, a pass from which you can take a diversion of some 350 metres to climb up (very carefully and holding on to a rope) to the ‘balconies’ of Simoncello to admire an extraordinary panorama of the area. Return to the Sella dei Sassi before continuing downhill for less than 1 kilometre to the valley overlooked by the Sasso di Simone rock face. Take your time in climbing up the path that passes by the old landslide, stopping to take a break in the picnic area by the rock, before heading back towards the Passo della Cantoniera.
