Bike&Tasting Week

This is the day of arrival, the time needed to reach Riccione and get in touch with the bike hotel that will welcome you during your bike&tasting week in Romagna.

Fossa cheese is a must when you come to Romagna. The variety that is especially appreciated is the one produced by Mulino della Porta di Sotto in Mondaino, the place we will visit on our sampling tour on the second day. If you are wondering where the name of this cheese derives from, during this visit you will find out about the origins of the product and its centuries old tradition. A little spoiler? It’s a cheese made with sheep’s’ milk with a low fat content, and it is highly digestible and ideal for a tasty break from all that pedalling!

The password today is organic. At the Fratelli Frontali Farm you can sample products of a very high quality, produced with raw ingredients that come from the farm itself. Oil and vegetables preserved in oil, chutney and jam, wine, cheese and cold cuts are just some of the delights that you can sample during this break. Surrounded by vast expanses of olive groves, the Frontali Farm is a natural paradise, the ideal place to better understand the Romagna people’s love for the land and their traditions.

Pasta is the icon of traditional cuisine throughout Italy, and the pasta produced in Romagna is among the most renowned. On this day we will visit Pastificio Ghigi, one of the oldest and most famous pasta production plants in the region. During our break you can visit the cycling museum, which houses memorabilia dating back to the late 50s, a time when the pasta plant was the sponsor of important teams with the Ghigi Team. In addition, you can visit the production area of the plant, a unique chance to see how Senatore Cappelli pasta is made, one of the most renowned, top Italian products in the food sector. At the end of the visit, we will enjoy a break with a sampling of products and a meal at Cantina Ennio Ottaviani, a wonderful farm set among the vineyards of the Rimini hills.

Today will be a day of relaxation. You will have the chance to rest your legs and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in Riccione in the month of May. Stroll along the shore, eat a piadina romagnola and relax: what more could you ask for?

In the preceding days, you will certainly have noticed that the Romagna countryside is full of olive groves. During today’s visit you will discover another excellent product of the Romagna region: oil. We will stop off at Oleificio Baffoni (oil producers) in Misano Monte. Here we will enjoy a pic-nic in the shade of the olive trees and we will sample local products, oil especially, which are produced exclusively with olives from Romagna.

The week can only end with a glass of good Sangiovese, an absolute icon of the Romagna food and wine tradition. During this tour we will stop off at the Cantina Fiammetta Winery in Croce where we will visit the winery and the farmhouse hotel set in wonderful natural surroundings. Here you can sample local high quality products, in addition to their wine, of course – which are all strictly organic.
